Electronic Records Management Capacity Course: “Managing the transition in Records Management” 11-13 February 2009, TGDLC, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. (in collaboration with AeRC ).
Organization and every individual has records! Business offices, government agencies, non-profit groups, educational institutions, and medical facilities-just to name a few-must deal with enormous amounts of records on a daily basis. Records must be managed from the time they are created or received, through distribution, use, and maintenance, until they are finally destroyed or permanently archived. Well managed records are essential if government and organisations are to function effectively, develop and implement policy, plan and take decisions regardless of the media on which the record is stored, the record must be properly managed to be an asset to the organization.

It is from this background that AeRC in collaboration with Tanzania Global Development Learning Centre is hosting a three-day (11-13 February 2009) capacity building workshop on Electronic Records Management in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to bring information managers to speed with this very powerful process. The workshop will provide participants with both a theoretical and practical understanding of the key concepts of Electronic Records Management. This Records Management course will give a basic overview of records management terminology, concepts, and procedures to successfully manage records in today's offices.

Leaders of Change: Leadership Development Programme (LOC) - $ 2,100 – Bagamoyo 23rd-27th March, 2009 (in collaboration with Leading Initiatives Worldwide, Australia)
This course provides practice in applying essential leadership tool and develops the confidence to lead people through change in dynamic workplace environments. Experiential learning, group and one-on-one simulations are applied as vehicles for building skills and gaining feedback on preferred behaviour and style. The objectives are: Understanding of the role and responsibilities of leadership; emotional intelligence and flexibility in using appropriate leadership styles; coaching and conflict resolution techniques; understanding of teams and teamwork, and the role of leadership in team development. The course targets leaders in various disciplines and organisations, and those who lead projects.

Leaders of Change: Leadership Development Program (gLOC)- $3800 (training materials& health breaks) 16th-20th February, 2009, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It is a highly practical oriented programme for information officers, Public Relations Officers and those responsible for maintaining websites. As organisations around the globe increasingly use websites to sell their products and services, more and more clients look for sites which are user-friendly in such of those products and service thus a need for client friendly websites. The course targets Information Education and Communication Officers, Public Relations Officers, Web Managers, IT technicians and officers responsible for website maintenance.

Human Resources Management in the Public Service (in collaboration with Singapore Civil Service College): $450, 19th-23rd January, 2009
It is highly interactive, experience and knowledge sharing programme designed to enable participants understand the intricacies of Human Resource Management in the public sectors. The training will be conducted through videoconferencing. The course targets Human Resource Managers and Officers responsible for managing HR both in public and private organisations.

Business Fundamentals: An online course in collaboration with New Horizons-$200, 19th-23rd January, 2009.
Applicants will be grounded on the basic principles of business thereby paying a particular attention to the current business trends in the world. This is a unique tailored, interactive and dynamic five-day program for medium and small entrepreneurs (SME’s).

For this reason, knowledge of the Project Management is becoming a required advantage. The Executive Assistants Skills course is designed to help Executive Assistants upgrade their skills and knowledge to meet the requirements of their position more professionally and develop stronger initiative. The program will build basic leadership skills and will provide fresh ideas on how to support their Managers by taking initiative on managing their time, take quick and structured decisions, develop excellent human relation skills, handle their own stress level, be creative and plan activities in a structured way that promotes cooperation and team spirit.

Strategic Communication for Senior Managers- TSh.700, 000/=, 16th-20th March, 2009 Dar es Salaam
Communication plays a central role in managerial work. Therefore improving organizational communication is critical to improving organizational performance. Surviving Retrenchment, 500,000/=, Morogoro, 27th- 29th April, 2009
Retrenchment is a painful process for all concerned parties and the sensitive handling of employees who are losing their jobs is a statutory and ethical obligation of an employer. The trauma associated with being retrenched is both economic and psychological and can lead to feelings of anger, guilt and resentment as well as undermine one’s personal and professional confidence. Retrenched employees who receive support and counselling services from their employer are better able to make the transition from retrenchment to the next stage of their career. An enlightened employer that uses some of its resources to address the future needs of its retrenched employees demonstrates corporate social responsibility and gains the respect and support of its employees and other stakeholders. In cases where retrenchment is conducted in phases the morale, commitment and motivation of employees who are left behind is more likely to be preserved if the employer is seen to be fair and considerate.
